Christian Life and the Renewal of the Heart

Christian Life and the Renewal of the Heart
“I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you.” — Ezekiel 36:26 (NIV)
The believer’s transformation begins in the heart. God promises to give a new heart to those who follow Him. Christian life involves a profound renewal of the human inner life.
David Seamands explains that “inner healing is an essential part of the believer’s spiritual restoration” (How to Heal the Wounds of the Soul). God not only forgives sins; He also transforms emotions, thoughts, and motivations. Peter Scazzero teaches that “authentic spirituality integrates emotional health with spiritual maturity” (The Emotionally Healthy Leader).
When the Holy Spirit works in the heart, the believer experiences real change. Pride becomes humility, hatred becomes love, and hopelessness becomes faith. This transformation is the work of God’s grace. Christian life consists of allowing God to renew our inner life each day.
