It is not too late for you
When the past seems unforgivable
“All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me, I do not reject.”

A person may come to believe that their history, mistakes, or the seriousness of their sins place them beyond the reach of grace. This idea produces hopelessness and can become a barrier to responding to the gospel.
Yet Jesus Christ did not come to seek those who consider themselves morally sufficient, but those who recognize that they are lost and need salvation.
“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost.”

The teaching guide states about those who consider themselves too sinful: “Jesus said publicly in Zacchaeus' house that his mission was to seek and save sinners.” Later, it declares: “You have the precious opportunity to be saved if you simply believe in the complete forgiveness Jesus offers you this very day.”
The sufficiency of Christ
The Christian response is not to minimize sin or to assure someone that everything is fine. It is to affirm that Christ's work is sufficient for those who repent and believe.
John 6:37 contains a deeply hopeful promise: Christ does not reject those who come to him. We must therefore help people stop looking only at the seriousness of their past and begin contemplating the sufficiency of the Savior.
Salvation does not depend on having had a perfect past, but on coming sincerely to Christ. Jesus came precisely to seek lost sinners and promises to welcome those who approach him with repentant faith.

Hope without minimizing sin
Offering hope requires taking the reality of sin seriously while also presenting Christ's sufficiency. Biblical grace does not deny guilt: it offers forgiveness, reconciliation, and transformation through sincere repentance, faith in Jesus, and a new direction in life.
As long as a person can respond to the gospel, their past is not a barrier greater than God's grace. It is not too late to come sincerely to Christ while his call is being heard.

Prayer
Lord Jesus Christ, give us compassion and wisdom to proclaim hope to those who believe they are too far from you. Help them understand that your grace is sufficient, that you welcome the repentant, and that in you there is forgiveness, restoration, and new life. Amen.
