The Heart of Service

“Serve the Lord with gladness; come before His presence with rejoicing.” — Psalm 100:2

Service in Christian worship begins long before taking a microphone or coordinating an activity: it begins in the intimacy of the heart. God does not observe only the visible actions of the coordinator, but also the motivations that drive their service.

A person may possess excellent organizational skills, communication abilities, and ministry experience; but if their heart is not surrendered to God, their work risks becoming merely a human activity, lacking spiritual depth. Worship was not designed to exalt personal talents or satisfy the desire for recognition, but to glorify Christ and lead the congregation into a genuine experience of worship.

This truth reminds us that the coordinator is, above all, a servant who facilitates the encounter between God and His people.

The coordinator must prepare diligently, while understanding that their worth does not come from their achievements, but from the grace of God. When the heart is filled with love for Christ, gratitude, and humility, spiritual authenticity becomes evident. The congregation perceives that sincerity, feels inspired to worship, and the atmosphere of worship becomes a space where God can work with freedom and power.

Questions for Reflection

Am I serving with joy or out of obligation?

I must renew my motivation, remembering that I serve God and not people.

Do I seek recognition or to glorify God?

Genuine service focuses on God, not on human approval.

Does my attitude influence the atmosphere of worship?

My heart is communicated; I must guard my spirit before ministering.

Prayer

Lord, cleanse my heart and fill it with joy as I serve You. May my service be sincere and pleasing before You. Make me a servant after Your heart. Amen.
