Serving with Order and Anointing

“But let all things be done decently and in order.” — 1 Corinthians 14:40 (RVR1960)

Coordinating a service is not simply about organizing activities, but about facilitating a real encounter between God and His people. When the apostle Paul wrote to the church in Corinth, he established a fundamental principle: order is not opposed to the Spirit; it is His ally.

In the context of Pentecostal worship, where the manifestation of the Holy Spirit is central, order allows God's presence to flow without distractions or confusion. Music is not what activates God's presence, but one resource among others.

John C. Maxwell states:

“A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.”

The worship coordinator fulfills this spiritual role: guiding the atmosphere toward God's presence.

Likewise, J. Oswald Sanders notes:

“Spiritual leadership is a combination of natural and spiritual qualities that are used to influence others for God.”

This means that the coordinator does not merely manage time, but also discerns spiritual moments.

The service should not be rigid, but neither should it be chaotic. The balance between planning and spiritual sensitivity is key. When the coordinator prays, prepares, and depends on the Holy Spirit, the service ceases to be a routine and becomes a transformative experience.

Reflection Questions

Am I coordinating the service as an organizational task or as a spiritual responsibility? I must understand that coordinating is ministering: I do not only organize time; I facilitate an orderly encounter with God.

Am I being sensitive to the Holy Spirit's direction during the service? I need to cultivate a life of prayer and discernment in order to flow beyond an established program.

Does my coordination contribute to order, or does it create confusion? I must evaluate my preparation, communication, and attitude to ensure that everything builds up the congregation. I must coordinate in an orderly way.

Prayer

Lord, help me coordinate every service with wisdom, order, and spiritual sensitivity. May my service honor Your presence and build up Your people. Make me a useful instrument in Your hands. Amen.
